The NFL Network recruited Lil Wayne to be a weekly guest on the pregame show NFL Gameday Morning for the rest of the season, and will start appearing on November 17th.

NFL Gameday Morning airs Sundays at 9 a.m. ET on the NFL Network. Rich Eisen hosts the show alongside analysts Kurt Warner, Gerald McCoy and Steve Mariucci. Lil Wayne joined NFL Gameday Morning after complaining about getting snubbed for the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show. The New Orleans native and many of his fans believed he deserved to headline the event since the Super Bowl is being held in his hometown. The official announcement was made during halftime at the New York Giants versus Carolina Panthers game in Munich earlier this week. The NFL Network and the show expressed their excitement about having Weezy join the family and shared a classic clip of him running out onto the field with his favourite team.

This isn’t the first time Wayne has gone from rapper to sportscaster. His contributions to sports networks like ESPN date back to 2009 when he appeared on shows like “Around The Horn.” He also made the theme song for Skip Bayless’ Fox Sports 1 show “Undisputed” in 2016 and appeared on the program several times throughout its run. Wayne also dropped his theme song for the Packers “Green & Yellow” in 2021. Lil Wayne’s new role at the NFL Network comes a few weeks after he was snubbed by the league. Weezy previously said he felt “hurt” when the NFL and Roc Nation chose Kendrick Lamar as the headliner for Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans over him. He spoke about the snub during his set at Lil Weezyana Fest in his hometown.
