The city of Kansas City was struck by tragedy today as a shooting marred the annual celebration for the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory.

Mayor Quinton Lucas and Police Chief Stacy Graves held a press conference to address the incident and provide updates on the situation. Mayor Lucas spoke about the celebration, which was meant to be a joyous occasion with thousands of people in attendance. However, it quickly turned into chaos when shots were fired on the west side of Union Station. The police response was swift, with officers immediately apprehending two suspects and providing life-saving aid to the victims.

Chief Graves expressed her anger and disappointment at the shooting, stating that the people who attended the celebration should have expected a safe environment. She emphasized that the presence of over 800 law enforcement officers was meant to ensure the safety of everyone present. Despite this, a tragedy occurred, and while the exact number of victims is still unknown, one person has been declared deceased.
