Hip Hop legend and West Coast staple Too $hort recently revealed he was being honored with a street name in Oakland, his hometown.

The news was cemented as Oakland’s City Council moved forward with the plan to name a three-block stretch on Foothill Boulevard between 47th Avenue and High Street as “Too $hort Way.” Councilmember Noel Gallo reportedly introduced the plan during a meeting on December 6. While speaking on the matter, Gallo said, “There’s an understanding that we should recognize him. Based not only on his talent and contributions but also just honoring and respecting those who have come before us and given back to the city.” The street sign was revealed on December 10 and reportedly came a day after the release of Mount Westmore’s self-titled album, featuring verses from group members Snoop Dogg, E-40, Ice Cube, and Too Short.
