In this clip, Rich Homie Quan spoke about being in jail, and he explained that he wasn’t thinking about rapping during his first six months there.

He then admitted that he lied to people about the microphone tattoo on his arm, and Quan told his fellow inmates that he made beats. It wasn’t until another inmate started freestyling that Rich Homie Quan knew that he could do better and surprised everyone by spitting a rhyme. This led to Rich Homie Quan rapping for snacks and money, giving him the inspiration to run with the idea of really becoming a rapper. From there, Rich Homie Quan spoke about coming home and moving into his mom’s garage, where he set up a studio and started recording music on his own.
