Lefty Gunplay joins Tony Yayo and Uncle Murda to share the story behind recording “tv off” with Kendrick Lamar, winning a Grammy, and rebuilding his career while getting sober.
He opens up about the Corvette crash that nearly killed him, nine months in rehab, fatherhood, spending nine years behind bars, and pursuing rap despite doubts from his own homies. Lefty also explains why he refuses to use the n-word and how prison rules differ from life outside. Lefty Gunplay said a Corvette wreck nearly cost him his life and made him realize he needed to get sober.
The rapper reflected on the crash as he discussed sobriety and the work still ahead of him. The rapper said he regretted some of his past interviews that went viral. He also recalled turning to Top Dawg and Steve Lobel for help. He had also discussed his rehab stay in an August 31 episode of “Dog In The Yard,” where he said he was nearing 10 months sober. He still struggled each day, sometimes hour by hour.
