Lil Durk won’t see a courtroom for his remaining federal charges until next summer after a judge pushed his VICAR murder trial to August 30, 2027.

U.S. District Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald approved the continuance earlier this week, moving the trial date from October 5, 2026, to give defense attorneys more time to prepare. Durk agreed to waive his right to a faster trial, and prosecutors didn’t object to the delay. The postponement comes less than three weeks after Lil Durk scored a life-changing win in his first federal trial with a complete acquittal on all five counts, including murder-for-hire and stalking resulting in death. His co-defendants Deandre “OTF Dede” Wilson and David “Browneyez” Lindsey weren’t as fortunate, getting convicted on three stalking-related charges while also beating the murder-for-hire allegations.

The remaining VICAR charges and firearms counts that were separated before the August trial still hang over Durk’s head. The defense teams cited the massive scope of the case as their reason for needing more time. They’re dealing with hundreds of gigabytes of digital evidence and over 30,000 pages of documents, reports, photos, witness statements, and medical records.
