Tekashi 6ix9ine opened up about his complicated relationship with his biological father, Daniel Hernandez Sr., who abandoned him early in life.
Tekashi, born and raised in Bushwick, Brooklyn, shared that he only met his real dad when he was around 8 or 9 years old. Until then, he believed his stepfather was his biological father. Despite his father’s struggles with substance abuse and legal issues, Tekashi expressed that these problems don’t excuse his absence.
Tekashi 6ix9ine revealed the emotional trauma he faced after his stepfather died when he was just 14. Tekashi described the tragic incident in 2010 when his stepdad suffered a fatal head injury under unclear circumstances, leading to internal bleeding and ultimately passing away just a day before his birthday. The incident left Tekashi deeply affected, plunging him into depression during his early teens. Following this profound loss, Tekashi struggled with school, eventually getting expelled. He was placed in a special education program with other traumatized kids, but ultimately decided to drop out of high school.
