Dancehall star Mr. Vegas shed light on his complicated history with Sean Paul, and working together on projects including the hit “Hot Gal Today” in the early 2000s.

Mr. Vegas revealed that tension arose over the song’s rights and credit after Sean Paul—signed to VP Records—re-released it without properly acknowledging him. Despite initially expecting a shared release, Mr. Vegas found his contributions sidelined, with a video filmed without his involvement. Reflecting on the fallout, Mr. Vegas understands it was a business decision fueled by label priorities, but admits the situation created tension between them. Over time, they have moved past the disagreement. Mr. Vegas also recalled seeing DMX during the “Belly” movie shoot in Jamaica and expressed how deeply the late rapper was hurt by Sean Paul’s past treatment.
