The label teased the project with full billboards, and the results more than meet the hype – Mass Appeal is lining up seven new albums, boasting some iconic names.

Legend Has It… is a space for seminal artists only, with the slate including Nas & DJ PremierGhostface KillahMobb DeepRaekwon The ChefBig LDe La Soul, and more. DJ Premier obviously contributed beats to ‘Illmatic’, and his studio re-run with Nas is bound to be special. Ghostface Killah’s long-rumoured ‘Supreme Clientele 2‘ is finally being released, the much-mythologised sequel to his 2000 classic.

Elsewhere you can catch something new from fellow Wu-Tang Clan lynchpin Raekwon The Chef, alongside a posthumous release from Harlem legend Big L. Mass Appeal also intends to honour the memory of Prodigy and Trugoy The Dove with the first Mobb Deep and De La Soul albums since each band member’s tragic passing – a huge moment for hip-hop fans.

Via a statement on the Big L Instagram, his family noted how much of the late rapper’s classic material is no longer on streaming services.

A new Big L album will form part of the incredibly exciting “Legend Has It” album series from Nas and Mass Appeal, which will boast various legendary New York City hip-hop acts’ new releases. Following this announcement, the late spitter’s family released a statement on the matter via his official Instagram page.
