50 Cent hit the proverbial pause button on his consistently headlined social media commentary to pay a visit to Shreveport, Louisiana this week for a crucial city council meeting.
As is well-documented, 50 has already established a substantial presence in the city with his G-Unit Films and Television production company, not to mention the Humour & Harmony Weekend festival. Tuesday’s council meeting sought to expand that presence by way of a lease on another building in the region, and successfully so. Per a report from the Shreveport Times, council members unanimously voted in favor of a 30-year lease agreement between Stageworks Louisiana and 50’s G-Unit company which will see a “state-of-the-art sports and entertainment venue” being launched in the city soon. While the initial deal includes a lease of 30 years, it also includes the option to renew for 15 years.
Under the terms of the agreement, G-Unit will pay Shreveport a modest monthly rent of $200 for the use of the Stageworks facility. The lease includes an option to renew for an additional 15 years. 50 Cent’s company will also be responsible for the building’s maintenance and operational expenses.
50 Cent admitted to feeling unusually anxious about the council’s decision despite his extensive experience performing in front of large crowds.
