According to a report from Sotheby’s, 200 pairs of sneakers designed by the late Virgil Abloh were sold for $25 million at an auction that lasted from January 26th to February 8th.
The limited-edition Air Force 1’s were draped in Louis Vuitton’s signature colors and patterns. While each pair of sneakers sold for an average of $100,000 per shoe, one pair was purchased for a whopping $350,000. Ever since Virgil Abloh’s passing last year, prices for apparel from his Off-White and Louis Vuitton designs have skyrocketed in value. The demand for his Louis Vuitton x Air Force 1 shoe is proof that his stronghold on the fashion industry remains fully intact.
The $25 million that was raised at the auction will help fund a scholarship for aspiring Black designers, which Abloh created prior to his passing. Scroll up to view the Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1 shoes
