Vince McMahon Steps Down as WWE CEO Amid Probe Into $3 Million Hush Payment

Vince McMahon is stepping away from his duties as CEO of the WWE amid an investigation of a $3 million settlement to a former employee he allegedly had an affair with.

The WWE announced that McMahon’s daughter, Stephanie, will serve as interim CEO. A statement released by the WWE reads, “Special Committee of the Board is conducting an investigation into alleged misconduct by its Chairman and CEO Vincent McMahon and John Laurinaitis, head of talent relations, and that, effective immediately, McMahon has voluntarily stepped back from his responsibilities as CEO and Chairman of the Board until the conclusion of the investigation.”
