According to reports, the United States has passed a grim milestone in compiling more than 300,000 deaths related to COVID-19.

To put that in perspective, the US death toll accounts for nearly a fifth of the world’s total COVID-19 related death count. The death toll has accelerated since mid-November, during which time the death toll was still around 250,000. Over the course of a few weeks, that number has ballooned to surpass the 300,000 mark. That number is figured to rise throughout the winter months, despite the presence of a vaccine.
