It’s just been revealed that there’s a new Batman in Gotham, as reports are coming out that indicate Robert Pattinson is the latest selection to play the superhero on screen.
“The Batman” will be the latest Batman film to hit theatres following the releases of “Batman vs Superman” and “Justice League,” as all signs point to Pattinson as the one that’s been chosen to fill the suit left behind by Ben Affleck, following his rise to fame with “The Twilight Saga” in the late 2000s.
The upcoming reboot will be directed by Matt Reeves, the filmmaker behind the last two “Planet of the Apes” sequels who assumed “Batman” directing duties from Affleck back in 2017, around the time when plans of a standalone Batman film were first announced. As for Pattinson, at 33 he’ll become the second-youngest actor to ever play Batman on the silver screen, with Christian Bale still being the youngest at 31 years of age when he portrayed Bruce Wayne in “Batman Begins” in 2005.
While no official start date has been set for “The Batman,” it’s been presumed that pre-production will begin this summer, as the film already has a scheduled released date of June 25, 2021.
