According to studies, approximately 900 deaths have occurred at the Grand Canyon in the past 222 years.

Ninety-one of the fatalities have been attributed to suicide, but the most common ways to die at the Grand Canyon remain airplane/helicopter crashes and accidental falls. An unidentified man (33) recently plummeted 4,700 feet to his death after walking around on the glass floors of the West Skywalk at Grand Canyon. He was pronounced dead shortly after a search and rescue team transported his body to the Hualapai Nation. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Department is still trying to determine if his death was a suicide or an accidental fall.
