Teyana Taylor Says She Needed Pharrell “to Fight a Little Harder” While Signed to Him

Teyana Taylor recently appeared on Angie Martinez’s show and spoke about the trajectory of her career leading up to her current success.

The artist talked about signing to Pharrell Williams and Star Trak at 15 and their father-daughter dynamic that sparked. Taylor said, “No matter how I felt when I was younger, like, none of these doors would’ve ever opened if it wasn’t for P. With him, it’s why I hold him on such a high pedestal.” She continued, “Because I didn’t have a dad, you know what I’m saying? He enjoyed me bragging about him – you know like calling him dad because it was something that he wanted.”

One point in the interview found Teyana expressing that she wished she felt more protected while under the tutelage of The Neptunes producer.
