Legendary Houston veteran Scarface recently guest starred on BET‘s hilarious Rate The Bars segment to give his opinion on lyrics written by different rappers through-out time. The segment is short, but the end is the best part of the piece.
All of the lyrics are written on a notecard, and Scarface recognizes some of the rhymes off the bat, while he is completely lost on the artist behind other bars. He starts by reading lyrics from Bun B’s “Till Recognize Trill.” Although Scarface acts like he has never heard those lyrics before, the Houston king has a hard time fooling anyone into believing he doesn’t know the words to another Houston legend’s famous track.
Next, Scarface rates songs by his Geto Boys group member Bushwick Bill, as well as The D.O.C., Chamillionaire, and Immortal Technique. He even rates his own bars, giving himself a 2.5-3 out of 5. After giving the lyrically adept group of rappers his rating, Scarface is hit by a surprise. He pulls out a car that features lyrics from the popular “Gucci Gang” song.
“I think we really made a mistake on this. I don’t think they put everything it,” Scarface comments, obviously confused by the lack of complex lyrics. He continues on to state, “I think it’s pretty cool because it’s not really alot to remember when you’re on stage.” He refrains from giving the rap a grade.
