Russian startup Promobot unveiled its freakishly human-like android.

The Robo-C is said to be the world’s first autonomous android and comes equipped with an artificial intelligence system that “has more than 100,000 speech modules, according to the company. It can operate at home, acting as a companion robot and reading out the news or managing smart appliances.” 

While the android cannot walk, its face contains 18 moving parts giving it 36 degrees of freedom that allow for the 600 micro facial expressions the company says the android is capable of exhibiting. Robo-C is reportedly costing interested parties $20,000 for the standard model and up to $50,000 for customized options and appearances.
