Redman Tests Young M.A. on Her Knowledge of 90’s Hip-Hop

USA, in a promotion for their new series Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G., teamed up with Genius to produce the “90’s Hip-Hop Challenge.” The short challenge features ten questions about 90’s rap culture. New Jersey legendary lyricists Redman filled the role of game show host, and rising star Young M.A. rose to the challenge.

Young M.A. does exceptionally well on the challenge, correctly answering 8 out of the 10 questions that Redman asks her. “I think we took it a little bit more serious in the 90’s, as far as lyrics,” stated Redman before the challenge starts. “I’m a 90’s baby, 92!,” exclaims M.A. The “OOOUUU” rapper easily answered the first few questions, which focused on the members of Cash Money Records in the 90’s, The name of Nas’ supergroup (The Firm), and the title of A Tribe Called Quest’s debut album. Youg M.A. finally stumbles when asked which rapper dropped two number one albums in 1998.

“I’ma have to take a guess… Jay-Z?,” M.A. nervously answers. The correct answer was DMX, who released his studio debut It’s Dark, and Hell Is Hot and Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood in the same year. She only gets one other question wrong, in regards to the inspiration behind the Busta Rhymes’ music video for “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See.”
