Nick Cannon reflects on how he embraced his culture at a young age, learning that black is beautiful in spite of all the oppression and injustice that they faced.
He declared that black people historically “were the only people in humanity that had to fight to be human,” referencing slavery as well as the three-fifths clause in the United States Constitution. Cannon goes on to delineate on how a person’s racism can be disguised as cultural pride, while still believing firmly in the importance of having pride in one’s culture.
