L.A. County officials have declared a state of emergency after discovering six new coronavirus, or COVID-19, cases in the last 48 hours.

The latest cases bring the total to 35 overall for California, who has more reported cases of coronavirus than any other state. Nine people have died in Washington state, where 27 cases have been reported. There have been no additional deaths from the coronavirus in the U.S. outside of Washington. Kathryn Barger, chairwoman of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, spoke to reporters revealing that she just signed a proclamation declaring a local emergency.
