Logic went on a rant regarding sampling via Twitter earlier this week.
The Maryland lyricist is in album mode and is apparently frustrated regarding some sample clearances. He wrote on Monday:
“Just want to take a moment and say, F*** sample clearence. F*** clearing samples. F*** people taking all a producers money for not doing sh** and f*** the companies that say no just cuz. This is hip hop. Iām tired of replaying sh**. F*** the money. This why mixtapes was so good.”Ā
He further elaborated his stance on Wednesday around midnight, explaining how the process of tracking down the proper people to clear a sample can be cumbersome. Logic also added how the process can undermine the creative work of a producer who can’t get something cleared as well as the ins and outs of that side of the business.
Just want to take a moment and say, Fuck sample clearence. Fuck clearing samples. Fuck people taking all a producers money for not doing shit and fuck the companies that say no just cuz. This is hip hop. Iām tired of replaying shit. Fuck the money. This why mixtapes was so good.
