The wave of robberies has flustered luxury department store/jewelry store owners and police forces because, in many cases, the perpetrators fled the scene without being apprehended.

The grand spectacle at the Americana at Brand Mall in Glendale prompted a reaction from the Mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, who established a task force to tackle the recurring problem. On Thursday, the Mayor’s “Organized Retail Task Force” arrested 11 people in connection to flash mob robberies in Los Angeles and Highland Park. However, while the take force was preoccupied, a crew of nine men appeared at the Macy’s inside the Westfield Fashion Square in Sherman Oaks, where they ransacked the place and fleed the scene with loads of merchandise.
