Jim Carrey is the latest celebrity to speak out about Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars on Sunday, and he slammed the audience for giving Smith a standing ovation for winning the best actor award for “King Richard.”
Carrey told CBS’ Gayle King, “I was sickened. I was sickened by the standing ovation. Hollywood is just spineless en masse and it really felt like this is a really clear indication that we aren’t the cool club anymore.” Carrey went on to state that he feels like Will should’ve been escorted out of the Oscars, and he believes Chris Rock didn’t file a report with the LAPD because he “didn’t want the hassle.”
