The rapper faced backlash for not being able to recognize Brandy’s voice as it was playing in the background of the station he was being interviewed at.

Since then, Harlow had a performance at the BET Awards, and paid proper homage to Brandy. During his performance, the rapper performed his song “Poison” with Lil Wayne, who came out on stage. Following Wayne’s appearance, Harlow hopped into his song “First Class,” which Brandy made a response record to after he said he didn’t recognize her voice. Harlow was aware of the viral moment he created in his interview, so the rapper brought out Brandy to perform her remix of the single.
