Dr. Fauci recently participated in a panel discussion centering around a global view of COVID-19 and predictions for the future.
At the start of the discussion, Dr. Fauci was asked how long he predicts it will be until things get back to “normal,” referring to before the coronavirus caused a global pandemic. While he stated that he’s “very certain” that a coronavirus vaccine will be available in the next few months, Dr. Fauci believes that the pandemic will be ongoing. He explained,
“If we get a vaccination campaign, and by the second or third quarter of 2021 we have vaccinated a substantial proportion of the people, I think it will be easily by the end of 2021, and perhaps even into the next year, before we start having some semblances of normality.”
