DMX’s family issued a statement to VladTV that cleared up some of the reports related to DMX’s condition following a heart attack he suffered.
DMX suffered a drug overdose this past Friday night and is currently in the hospital after the overdose triggered a heart attack. The incident reportedly went down around 11 PM, and DMX was rushed to a hospital in White Plains, New York where he was placed in a critical care unit. Reports on his condition have been scattered, with TMZ noting that the rapper has “some brain activity.” However, another source noted the rapper was in a “vegetative state.”
The family noted that the rapper was in ICU in critical condition. Now, DMX’s lawyer has given an update on the rapper’s status and also noted he was initially “given wrong information.”
“We are issuing this statement to combat all the false and misleading reports that are circulating on social media. Last night Earl “DMX” Simmons was rushed to the hospital after collapsing at home. At this time he remains in ICU in critical condition. Earl has been a warrior his entire life. This situation represents yet another road he must cross. The Simmons Family appreciates the overwhelming outpouring of heartfelt love, encouragement, support and prayers for Earl. Earl is someone whose life and music has been a source of inspiration and strength to so many people around the world. It is reassuring to see his fans return that same passion and energy to him during his time of need.”
DMX’s lawyer—Murray Richman, noted that he could not confirm if the heart attack was drug-related but could confirm a heart attack did happen. Along with that, Richman said DMX had “been taken off life support and is breathing on his own.” The lawyer went on to say, “It would be disingenuous of me to suggest that I am not a worried man.” Richman would later say he was “given wrong information” and that X remains on life support. Stay tuned for more updates.
