The tragic loss of DMX has still been looming, and many have been mourning the passing of the legendary rapper.

The mural was created by a New York artist named Floyd Simmons, and it was painted on the Calcagno Homes located on School Street. The location is of significance because these are the projects where DMX once lived. The rapper actually rhymed about the projects he grew up in on the track “School Street.”

It was noted the mural was unveiled Tuesday morning, and Floyd Simmons said residents at the housing projects called on him because of another mural he did in Harlem in the 1990s. The 35 x 22 feet mural was supposed to be done earlier, but the artist reportedly suffered a broken pinky while in the middle of the installation. Along with that, a heat wave and massive rain delayed the project’s completion.
