Dave Chappelle spoke on gaining the rights to his classic sketch comedy show, “Chappelle’s Show,” during an appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast.
Towards the end of 2020, Netflix took the show off of its platform after the comedian revealed he didn’t receive royalties from the show and asked viewers not the stream it. Months later, Chappelle updated fans to let them know that he was able to regain ownership of the show, along with licensing and millions. While on the podcast, Chappelle said he wasn’t angry or bitter towards Comedy Central or Viacom as he got older. He also highlighted that it was public opinion that influenced him to gain the rights to his show and not the court system.
