Canadians spent a pretty penny on marijuana in 2018 according to a report conducted by Arcview Market Research and BDS Analytics.

The country’s spending on weed increased from $569 million in 2017 to $1.2 billion in 2018. The same report predicts that Canada’s spending on marijuana will reach $5.8 billion by 2022 which will see Canada surpass California as the world’s largest distributor of recreational cannabis. Furthermore, the Arcview report states that recreational marijuana will overtake medicinal marijuana by 2022 while revealing that the number of Canadian adults that smoked weed in 2018 increased from 21% to 25%.
