‘Bird Box’ is the latest movie that has many viewers chattering via social media. The horror movie which features Sandra Bullock has been viewed over 45 million times in the first week.
Reports noted the movie to hold that record previously was David Ayer’s ‘Bright’ starring Will Smith. Netflix sent out a tweet saying “Took off my blindfold this morning to discover that 45,037,125 Netflix accounts have already watched Bird Box — best first 7 days ever for a Netflix film!”
For those unaware, the movie features Sandra Bullock as a mother looking to save her kids from a supernatural being that can take your life if you see it is on the loose and does away with most of humanity.
Whether or not the numbers are accurate (at least in regard to complete viewings as opposed to momentary sampling), and whether or not the deluge of online memes that have popped up in the last week are an inside job meant to spur online conversation (if not, then Netflix owes Black Twitter a fruit basket or a Mercedes), there is one thing we can take away from the alleged viewership figures: Sandra Bullock is still a super-duper movie star.
