Video footage surfaced of what shows the Belize men’s national soccer team in a troubling situation where they are being held up by gunmen in Haiti, only minutes after they arrived in Haiti for the World Cup qualifier.
A statement was issued by Belize national team officials, who said the team was making their way to a hotel days before their big matchup when a group of armed men on motorcycles pulled up on them with guns drawn. In the video, people on the bus can be heard noting what is being said to them by the gunmen, with one person saying, “They said ‘pull over or else!’” The cops were able to “negotiate” with the armed men so they would leave the soccer team alone, according to Belize officials.
