According to reports, about four tons of marijuana was discovered in a large shipment of jalapeño peppers.
Police noted that a 37-year-old Mexican man was stopped after entering the U.S. San Diego port of entry. The man was driving a tractor that a trailer with cargo listed as jalapeño peppers on the manifest. Border cops pulled the man over to take a closer look at the shipment for a secondary inspection.
Once the man pulled the truck to the dock, border patrol brought out K-9 teams and ended up finding a substance that resembled marijuana and tested positive for the same properties of cannabis. It was noted that police found 314 wrapped packages of cannabis, amounting to 7,560 pounds or about four tons. The cannabis and truck were seized as a result.
